Sweyne Park: A Case Study in Sustainable Collaboration

Last year, we were delighted to work in collaboration with Morgan Sindall on the construction of our new History Block.

This led to us being the first school in Essex to be net zero in operation.

Sixth Form Open Evening

Thank you to everybody who joined us for our Sixth Form Open Evening last night.

It was very well attended and we have received lots of positive feedback about our current students who supported the event as subject ambassadors, tour guides and public speakers.

Coming Soon: PE Communications on Instagram

I am excited to announce that we are in the process of setting up an Instagram account for our PE department.Ìý This will allow them to communicate more effectively with parents in sharing information about fixtures, results, as well as updates in real time relating to sporting news and events.Ìý Watch this space!!

**Key Dates Correction**

I wanted to apologise for any confusion caused as a result of an error in last week’s Sweyne Park Times.

To clarify, the Rayleigh Christmas Lights event is scheduled to take place on Thursday 30th November between 4.00 pm and 6.30 pm.

The rescheduled Year 13 Parents’ Consultation Evening will still take place on Thursday 7th December.

Poppy Appeal

Thank you to Sam H, Jacob R, Harry H, Alfie B for volunteering to manage the Poppy Appeal collection today. They look incredibly smart in their Cadet uniform and were fantastic ambassadors for both our school and their Cadet Unit.

Year 8 Football Success

Mr Andrew and the Year 8 Football Team who, on Monday, played at Appleton.

The team put on a great performance, securing a 2-1 win in a games that was a repeat of last year’s final.

Goals came from Olly B and Olly C. Well done to all involved: Charlie M, Archie F, Brayden P, Finn J, Harris N, Olly B, Tyler L, Olly C, Theo C, George H, Riley H, Archie B and Harrison SB

Girls Football

Congratulations to Mrs Harris and the Year 7 and Senior Football Teams. They played extremely well in this week’s District Football tournament at King Edmund School and were fantastic ambassadors for Sweyne Park.

The Year 7 Team made it through to the semi-finals, losing in the final 30 seconds, and the Senior Team lost in a very tough final match 1-v-0 after playing exceptionally well throughout all of the qualifying rounds.

Poetry and Creative Writing Competition Winners

Poetry Winners

Huge congratulations to Ava C (Year 7), who has won the Library’s Annual Poetry Competition this year with her poem, A Perilous Journey.

Second place was awarded to Payton (Year 7), for her Hallowe’en Poem.

Finally in third place Olivia S (Year 7) for her Autumn poem.

The winners were announced in Assembly this week, Ava received a £10 Amazon voucher, a book & chocolate bar for first prize.

Congratulations to our winners and to everyone who entered – positive points have been awarded!

Hallowe’en Creative Writing Competition Winners

Eden M (Year 7) was the overall winner for her poem, Hallowe’en.
Eden won a £10 Amazon voucher, chocolate and a spooky book!

In second place was Imogen Q (Year 7).
In third place was Chrystal (Year 9), who were both awarded with a chocolate bar and spooky book.

Congratulations to all our winners and positive points were awarded to every entrant.
